What is a man’s image? I’ll let you decide that one.
I feel you. I’ve been known to take a few liberties with the classic image and call it my own.
It’s kind of a complicated question, but I think generally speaking, a man has an image. A man’s image is a set of mental associations that he unconsciously projects onto the world, and those associations can impact his behavior. Our first image of Colt Vahn was him looking like a guy who’d been kicked in the crotch.
To start the debate, I think what people mean by their “image” is their perception of themselves, their perception of others, and possibly how that influences their behavior. In other words, if they think they are a successful businessman or successful person, the image they project is a successful man.
For the most part, it’s fine by us, but we can’t make progress with our perceptions of our own world. It’s one of those reasons that people make a mistake. We don’t get rid of them, but we can’t get rid of our own personal perception of them.
We can, however, get rid of our own image of them. It can be done with a certain amount of difficulty and a lot of diligence, and we need to remember to be sure that we are not projecting our own perception of them to others. One way you can do this is to create a positive image for yourself of them, but that’s not always easy.
Here is a good example of the problem of projecting our own perceptions of another person: we say it is bad that our wife is not interested in our marriage and we are always disappointed when we lose the fight. We are projecting our own dislike of her as the cause of her rejection. This is not a good way to project ourselves.
The good thing is that you can use your own image of them in a positive way. Let’s say you are a young man dating a woman. You may have an image of her as a young, sexy woman, or you may have an image of her as a young, sexy woman with big boobs. You will probably have a different image of her depending on the way it works at her house.
This is a great way to use your own image of them in a positive way.
