This is a tweet originally made by @haydazeh which is why I wanted to share it. It kind of summarizes the whole point of this book.
So we’re in the third part of the Endgame series. There is a time for the narrative to come to a close, but right now our story’s been running for years. It’s been running on the minds of most of the people on this planet, but also on the minds of the creators of the game, the designers, the programmers, the programmers who made the game. You can probably guess what that means. Right now it’s just the game players and the designers.
If you have any questions or concerns about the story of the game, it would be great to see your story. It was brought to a close in this game because the game’s creators wanted to show us their characters, and so they’re playing this game to see if we can give them something that they’re doing good and kind of show how they do what they do well, and maybe find some other way. I’ve seen this sort of thing before, and it’s pretty cool.
The endgame is still a work in progress, so we wont be revealing it until after Blackreef is released. We just want to show people how they can make sense of all the choices they make.
Well, as you might have guessed, my favorite part of the trailer was the guy with the gun who says, “I didn’t know what was going to happen. I wanted to be a hero, and I wanted to save the world, and I wanted to do everything right. But I just decided to throw down my gun and say, ‘fuck it.
There are many choices that players make in the endgame, and that’s normal. The goal of this game is to be able to choose the perfect way to make the endgame go according to your own whims. But this trailer seems to suggest that even in the endgame, there are still plenty of people who do things the wrong way and end up screwed over.
It is true that with the endgame so ridiculously large (and potentially infinite) there is a lot of “what ifs.” At the beginning of the game, there is the choice to do everything right and win the game. It is very possible that you will fail, but failing means that you are punished for not doing something your way, so you won’t do it.
This is very true. In the endgame you are given the choice to do whatever you want and you can even have the option to skip out on certain parts of the game in favor of an option that the game does not give you to avoid the endgame. It is very possible that you will fail and you will have to do certain things right, but that way you also bypass the endgame for a certain element of the game.
This is a game. If you feel like you’re doing something wrong, don’t do it. It’s a game. Just because you’re an actor doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong. Try this and see what happens.
You can still choose to play Deathloop and still play the endgame, but you will not be able to skip parts of it. So if you want to skip out on the endgame, and you are in a time loop and you want to play the endgame, but you don’t want to play the full game, you can still do that. That is a decision you have to make and you can change it anytime you want to.
