We spent this morning, the first of 2 weeks in the new house, in bed. And we were not alone. Everyone who visited the house slept in the same room. It was a rare privilege. The beds in the new house were actually the oldest we’ve ever owned. There were sheets on the top of the beds and sheets that were folded down and rolled up, the beds themselves made of a sort of quilted material.

At least it was a new bed that was not just a couple of years old. We were pretty new at this whole house thing. So it was nice to have a couple of beds that weren’t just a couple of years old.

I remember them pretty well because when we moved in they were in the middle of the floor and almost touching. This was in the new house. But even more interesting is that the beds actually had a lot of character. There were two sets of sheets and two sets of pillows. One set of sheets was so soft it was like a second skin.

I think this was a part of a whole bunch of weird stuff that was just happening.

I remember one time the bed was so soft it was like a second skin and I was just laying there and thinking “What the hell is this” and then I fell asleep, which was pretty nice because I was already asleep. It was that good.

I don’t know that I’m really sure how that happened, but I do know that it’s pretty rare to find a bed that is as soft as that.

It’s as rare as it gets, I think. You can get hard, soft, and pillowy beds, but so few people want one of each.

Okay, let’s not get too off topic here. In a way, the softness of beds is part of a cycle that goes on in our bodies. We get softer on our beds as we get older and begin to lose some of our elasticity. It’s a natural part of aging. But softness is also a thing that occurs on our bodies, like when we get sore from running too much, or when we start to have a hard time walking or exercising.

So if we’re ever back to this tired state, we’ll probably take some time to come up with whatever kind of bed we want. I have a friend who’s been in a few beds for years. He’s usually in a sleeping position, sitting on the edge of the bed, and then he wakes up to find that the bed he was in was already covered in sheets. We’ll get there first, and then we’ll get out.

Well, this is a common complaint from our own clients and readers alike. It’s not so much from bad experiences as it is from a general sense of discomfort. This is what happens when you get too used to doing something. Once we start to rely heavily on our bodies, we lose control. When we start training to go to bed at a certain time, we get too used to it and lose track of time.
